Coal camp is a an ancient surburb of Enugu main town. Actually, it was the first central hub of Enugu in the early 20th century when coal was mined in large quantities by the colonial government hence, coal played a vital role in the life of people, the state and country at large back then.
Coal camp therefore was a settlement for both workers and offices of the industry. However today, coal is no longer a main stay of the economy and therefore mines have long been abandoned but the area has steadily experienced a large number of residents and visitors who live or visit everyday if their lives. Coal camp is home to the largest spare parts market in Enugu and arguably one of the most efficient in south east Nigeria. No motorist can boast that he can do without coal camp. Lots of banks, service providers, goods etc, spread across the area and this ofcourse makes coal camp not only habitable,but also visiteable.
Are you coming from inside or outside Enugu?
From polo/ IMT/GRA/Transekulu, Abakp, take a bus or drive straight to old park/holy ghost. Then follow akwata road via prisons/old dens Cook/old UNTH, through the new akwata road up to coal camp.
If you are coming from independence layout/ogui/Asata, or even New haven, simply follow zik avenue Uwani and connect via police cadet training school to coal camp.
From outside Enugu
If you are coming from Lagos, once you get to Enugu, take a taxi drop to coal camp. its very popular, they can't miss it.
If you are driving into Enugu from pH express simply drive straight inside gariki till you get to coal camp.
From Abuja or northern Nigeria by road via 9th mile or Opi-Nike road, get to Enugu then, take a drop straight to coal camp.
Through Airport from overseas or within via Lagos or Abuja or any other international airport, connect a flight to Enugu first then when you get here take a cab or airport taxi to coal camp.
